One Simple Thing: Homemade Chocolate Sauce
A simple jar of chocolate sauce for ice cream nights, summer sundaes, and last-minute desserts.
There are some recipes that feel almost too simple to mention—until you make them once and remember why they matter.
Homemade chocolate sauce is one of those.
It takes only a few pantry ingredients, a saucepan, and a couple of minutes at the stove. But once it’s tucked into a jar in the refrigerator, it has a way of making ordinary things feel a little more special: a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a bowl of strawberries, a slice of pound cake, or a glass of milk stirred into something wonderfully chocolatey.
And with summer just ahead, this is the kind of little recipe I love having ready.
Not fussy. Not complicated. Just a simple jar of chocolate sauce waiting for ice cream nights, backyard dinners, and last-minute desserts.
One Simple Thing: Homemade Chocolate Sauce
I first shared this chocolate sauce recipe on 31Daily, but it’s one I come back to every summer. And since I’m beginning to test Substack’s recipe card feature here at At the Table, this felt like the perfect place to start.
A few ways to use this chocolate sauce:
Spoon it over vanilla ice cream with toasted coconut or chopped nuts.
Drizzle it over pound cake and berries.
Stir it into cold milk for a quick chocolate milk.
Swirl it into no-churn ice cream.
Use it for banana splits, brownie sundaes, or a simple summer ice cream bar.
And maybe best of all, keep it in the refrigerator for the kind of evening when dessert is simply a scoop of ice cream and a spoonful of something homemade.
