Peach Crumble Bars: An Irresistible Summer Treat
An easy peach season treat with a rich, sweet and savory flavor.
Every year in late July, I anticipate one thing… peach season.
It’s the season when these beautiful golden orbs begin brightening the local orchards, farmers’ markets, and farm stands. There is a fragrance that fills the kitchen when peaches arrive; an aroma surrounds you just like the summer sun.
Growing up, my grandmother, mother, and aunts canned peaches. It seemed as if those hot summer days stretched endlessly. The process seemed to take hours for this young girl who really wanted to be outside. The results, however, were pure delight and satisfying as they lined my grandmother’s larder shelves. And truly helped set me on a path toward this food space.
If you’re like me and the fragrance of fresh peaches and sweet peach treats is a mid-summer must, you’ll love these Peach Crumble Bars.
What Makes These Peach Crumble Bars Different?
These peach bars (almost like peach pie bars) have a “secret,” unexpected ingredient. It’s small, but the tiny amount lends a slight floral element and makes all the difference.
And then there is the drizzle. Optional, of course, but a scant drizzle over each bar complements that secret ingredient and makes a dessert bar that my friends and family can’t get enough of.
More takeaways on why I love these bars:
Peach flavors are enhanced by a simple warm spice combination.
Perfect for backyard gatherings, picnics, or, when cut into tiny squares, an August afternoon tea.
Satisfies all my peach pie and peach cobbler cravings!
